Participation for this training is closed as of August 14th. No participants.
Summer is here, monsoons have arrived, and soon vacation will begin. Well, not sure if vacation is the right word, since most of us will be working or doing some form of training. This summer, because of our busy schedules, training will be solely internet based. Each of us, Tony and myself, will do two areas of language for you to work on. Tony's areas are speaking and writing, and my areas are reading and listening.
Each of you participating will have their own page, which is where you will respond to the questions/exercises for each area. Directions for each area are on this page.
Participant's pages: Betty, Brad, Jenny, Hannah Christina
Reading
Please read Some Words Inside Words and write down observations about the poem.
Listening
Please listen to the Awareness mp3 attached to this web page. Write down words, phrases, etc. that you learned. Please choose a phrase that you felt was especially well-said and state why you think it is well-written.
Writing
Each participant will write a short story using the writing mechanics of introduction, body and conclusion. The conclusion should tie all three together. Types of stories (fictional, children or true to life event, etc.) Do something that is easy for you to write about. Best way to start is:
- Take a blank sheet of paper and start writing, do not worry about punctuations or writing style.
- After you have finished reread it for clarity and grammar punctuation.
- Now you are ready to formulate it for the three mechanics mentioned above.
- Submit to zoho teacher training.
Note: Do not labor too long on what to write about. The simpler the idea the more fluid and easier it will be.
Speaking
After you have done the writing assignment , now comes the speaking. Record your story paying close attention to pronunciation. If you have recording software on your computer use that, if not go to http://roemersoftware.com/free-sound-recorder.html follow the instructions to download and record. Then email me the recording.
Some tips for recording:
- Practice reading your story a few times.
- Make a recording and listen to how you are pronouncing the words and speech.
- Make any corrections as necessary.
- After you are satisfied make your recording.
- Submit.
Good luck and have fun!!!
